Scientific Games Becomes Connecticut Lottery’s Primary Instant Games Provider

Scientific Games has extended its existing instant games partnership with the Connecticut Lottery Corporation, the Las Vegas-based provider of content and technology for the gambling industry announced today.

Scientific Games was awarded a new, five-year contract by the Connecticut Lottery in a move that promoted the company to the primary instant games provider of the lottery agency.

The recently extended agreement will see Scientific Games increase the number of instant games it offers to the Connecticut Lottery. The major provider said that its move to a primary provider is part of the agency’s strategic plan to “maximize profits and contributions to the state’s General Fund.”

Scientific Games’ partnership with the Connecticut Lottery extends four decades back and has seen the provider deliver various instant games to the lottery agency. In addition, Scientific Games supplies the Lottery with systems and retail technology.

The Connecticut Lottery was formed in 1971 as the fourth US state lottery. Since its inception, the agency has contributed more than $10 billion in funding for different programs and charitable causes in Connecticut.

Last year, the Connecticut Lottery ranked among the Top 10 lotteries in the world for total sales per member of population.

News about Scientific Games’ extended partnership with the Connecticut Lottery emerge days after the company announced that it has been awarded a 10-year contract to develop a new gaming system that would power the Iowa Lottery and its 2,400 retail locations around the state of Iowa.

Strong Record of Providing High Quality Lottery Games

Commenting on their extended instant game partnership with Scientific Games, Connecticut Lottery CEO Greg Smith said that the provider has a “strong record of providing high-quality instant games and valuable recommendations for managing instant game portfolios for lotteries.”

Mr. Smith went on that they are looking forward to working closely with the Las Vegas-based company as it becomes the primary supplier of instant games content.

It is interesting to note that Scientific Games was the company to launch the first secure retail instant game in 1974 and the first digital instant game in the United States in 2014.

As part of its extended partnership with the Connecticut Lottery and as the agency’s primary instant games provider, Scientific Games will also deliver marketing services as well as research and analytics to help the Lottery grow instant game sales across its network of 2,800 retail locations.

Commenting on today’s announcement about their bolstered partnership in Connecticut, Scientific Games SVP Lottery Instant Lottery Products John Schulz said that they are honored to have had their role increased to a primary instant games provider and that the Connecticut Lottery has “placed its trust in Scientific Games as the best value and alignment for growth and maximizing profits for state programs.”
