partypoker Awarded Online Poker License in Italy

[ad_1]

Online poker operator partypoker, part of gambling group GVC Holdings, has recently celebrated its return to Italy’s online poker market after four-year absence.

The popular brand announced this week that it has obtained a license for the provision of online poker services on the territory of Italy and that its Italian website has gone live.

Partypoker said that its license became effective on April 1, 2020 and that it was able to go live with online poker on the very same day.

GVC’s widely popular poker brand as well as its international rivals have been able to benefit from the ongoing surge in poker traffic.

In a statement on GVC’s website, partypoker said that shortly after its Italian launch, it plans to bring some of its globally popular tournament titles to Italian online poker enthusiasts. The operator is set to release the full tournament schedule for its Italian players in the near future.

An Exciting Expansion Opportunity

Partypoker’s online poker offering has returned to the local market four years after the operator quit Italy.

Commenting on their comeback, partypoker Managing Director Tom Waters said that “despite recent changes that restrict marketing in Italy, the poker market there remains an exciting opportunity for partypoker.”

The Italian government implemented a blanket ban on all forms of gambling advertising in the summer of 2018 to curb the proliferation of gaming and sports betting in the country and protect vulnerable people.

Despite the stern measures the nation has remained an attractive regulated iGaming territory.

Mr. Waters added that now as they are live in Italy, they will be “looking to improve and expand on our product and offering” over the year and “bring a different option for the Italian poker market.”

Aside from online poker, partypoker is also authorized to offer online casino-style games in Italy.

partypoker Gearing Up for Inaugural Poker Masters Online

With all Las Vegas casinos due to remain closed throughout April, partypoker recently teamed up with Poker Central to bring one of the most popular annual high roller tournaments taking place on the Strip over the past several years.

The inaugural Poker Masters Online festival is set to take place from April 12 through April 26. The event will feature 30 different poker tournaments with buy-in fees ranging from $10,300 all the way up to $51,000 for the Main Event.

The festival’s schedule includes No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha tournaments with 6-Max and 8-Max formats available. Guaranteed prize pools for the tournies will range from $250,000 to $2 million for the Main Event.

The $51,000 No-Limit Hold’em 8-Max Main Event is set to take place on April 26, 2020.

The first-ever Poker Masters Online champion will be awarded a $50,000 cash prize and the coveted Poker Masters purple jacket.
