World Poker Tour announces upcoming Cambodia stop

The World Poker Tour announced this week that the upcoming Season XIX will begin with the WPT Cambodia. The NagaWorld Integrated Resort of Phnom Penh will be hosting the tour stop. The Main Event will include a $3,500 buy-in and will take place from July 21st to the 25th.

Return to Cambodia:

The WPT will return to Cambodia in July for the WPT stop after coming to the region for the very first time in November of last year. The turnout to the first ever Cambodia stop was successful with 750 entries and the largest prize pool in poker history for the region coming in at almost triple the guarantee of $250,000.

The WPT Cambodia for 2020 will run from July 15th through the 28th. The poker festival will include 26 events and buy-ins will range in price from $200 on the low end and up to $15,000 on the high end. The schedule will include the NagaWorld Billions Open which will have a buy-in of $550. The Mini Main Event will have a buy-in of $1,100 and will be featured along with the High Roller Championship, an event with a $10,000 buy-in.

CEO Adam Pliska commented on the tour stop, stating that the WPT continues to expand on a global scale and they are ‘delighted to break new ground in the Asia-Pacific region to open our 19th season this July with WPT Cambodia.’

Continuing in Cambodia:

The World Poker Tour will continue to offer a full season of events in Cambodia, with NagaWorld playing host. The upcoming season will include a festival in the region for the WPTDeepStacks, taking place in November. The event will allow players to earn points for the Asia-Pacific Player of the Year race, which offers a $10,000 WPT Passport to the first-place finisher.

The WPT will be back in May 2021, to offer the first-ever WPT NagaWorld Asia-Pacific Championship festival. Running from the 5th to the 18th, this festival will provide the winners with access to the Season XIX WPT Tournament of Champions. The winners of the WPT Cambodia can also take part.
