Century Casinos Announces Colorado Betting Deal with Circa Sports

[ad_1]

Casino operator Century Casinos this week announced that it has secured a wagering partner to gear up for the imminent start of sports betting in its home state, Colorado.

The company has signed a 15-year agreement with Circa Sports Colorado LLC for the launch of a Circa Sports-branded mobile betting app.

Helmed by Downtown Las Vegas developer and casino owner Derek Stevens, Circa Sports first began offering sports betting experience last summer in Nevada. Its partnership with Century Casinos marks the first time the brand will provide its services outside its home state.

As part of their partnership, both Century Casinos and Circa Sports have submitted applications with Colorado regulators to obtain the necessary licenses prior to the scheduled start of legal sports betting in the state on May 1, 2020.

Circa Sports will be one of Century Casinos’ sports betting partners in Colorado. Under state rules, the casino operator has two more licenses available for wagering partnerships.

State residents narrowly approved Proposition DD calling for the legalization of sports betting in November 2019. Under Colorado’s newly adopted sports betting law, the state Limited Gaming Control Commission was tasked with drafting the rules under which sports betting activities are to be conducted. The regulator is set to release the rules in February.

It is also expected to issue the first batch of wagering licenses in the coming days. According to sources, the commission will initially grant 33 licenses for the provision of retail and digital sports betting services.

Details about the Century Casinos/Circa Sports Deal

Century Casinos and Circa Sports signed a 15-year agreement for the launch and operation of a mobile betting app that will service bettors on the territory of Colorado.

The deal between the casino operator and its wagering partner includes a market access fee, a share of net gaming revenue generated in the state, and a minimum revenue guarantee payable to Century Casinos each year.

Century Casinos and Circa Sports expect to launch the betting app on or around May 1, 2020 to mark an early entry into Colorado’s nascent athletic gambling market.

Commenting on their expansion into a new state, Circa Sports CEO Derek Stevens said that they are “excited to be at the forefront of sports betting in Colorado with our partners at Century Casinos” and that the state “has proven to be an ideal place to mark the official expansion of Circa Sports outside of Nevada with its pro-growth regulatory environment.”

As mentioned earlier, the Circa Sports brand officially launched in Las Vegas last summer with sports betting products at Golden Gate Hotel & Casino and the D Las Vegas. Mr. Stevens’ Circa Resort & Casino project, currently under development in Downtown Vegas, will too feature a Circa Sports betting facility that the businessman has been promoting as the largest one in the world.

Century Casinos’ Colorado partnership with Circa Sports has been the latest to have been announced in recent weeks as the state prepares for the start of legal sports betting.

Late last month, casino operator Twin River announced that it has teamed up with DraftKings and FanDuel to provide sports betting services in Colorado. The company owns three casinos, the Arapahoe Park racetrack, and 13 authorized OTB licenses in Colorado.

British bookmaker Betfred has too secured its entry in the state with a recent partnership with Saratoga Casino in the historic mining town of Black Hawk.
