Dead & Company has all but confirmed what we reported earlier this month. The jam supergroup featuring Grateful Dead survivors Bob Weir and Mickey Hart with singer-songwriter John Mayer will headline the next Vegas Sphere residency after U2.

Dead & Company band posted a tie dye-lit Sphere to their Instagram page on Wednesday, along with the message: “In 2023, Dead & Company played their final tour. But there are other ways to make sure the music never stops. And it’s gonna be a ball.” (Image: Instagram/Dead & Company)

Dead & Company are expected to perform at least 15 shows following a four-show nonresidency by fellow jam band Phish, from April 18-21. The specific dates will accompany an announcement this week, along with ticket info.

Dead & Company are managed by U2 manager Irving Azoff, who is also a booking consultant for the Sphere, so this wasn’t too difficult a guess.

Interestingly, in a survey Casino.org conducted of 3,000 people earlier this month, Dead & Company was the least preferred rumored Sphere headliner, ranking behind Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Coldplay, Paul McCartney, the Eagles, Bon Jovi, Harry Styles, and KISS.

Strip’s First All-Spanish Residency

Los Bukis will headline what is being reported as the Strip’s first all-Spanish language residency. It will kick off 15 performances at Park MGM’s Dolby Live on Mother’s Day and wrap up around Mexican Independence Day in September.

The Mexican vocal group comprising Marco Antonio, Javier, and Joel Solís; Pepe and Roberto Guadarrama; Pedro Sánchez; and Eusebio “El Chivo” Cortez reunited for a tour in 2021 following a 25-year break, selling out stadiums across the US.

The residency dates are May 3, 4, 8, 10, and 11; July 12, 13, 17, 19, and 20; and September 13, 14, 18, 20, and 21. Tickets, from $85, go on sale to the public on February 2 at 10 a.m. PT via Ticketmaster.

Celine Doc Coming

A documentary about former Vegas headliner Celine Dion’s health struggles will air on Amazon Prime later this year. “I Am: Celine Dion” was directed by Oscar-nominated Irene Taylor. Dion suffers from Stiff Person’s Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that caused her to cancel a November 2021 residency at Resorts World.
