Billionaire Steve Wynn has largely stayed out of the public eye since resigning from Wynn Resorts in February 2018. The 81-year-old has occupied his time by flipping luxury real estate in South Florida. But he apparently remains interested in politics and in supporting his longtime friend Donald Trump’s fight to take back the White House.

Trump won his second consecutive primary contest Tuesday night by way of New Hampshire. The former president received about 55% of the vote to Nikki Haley’s 43%.

Iowa and New Hampshire have both gone Trump’s way. The odds continue to strengthen that Trump, also a billionaire who, like Wynn, developed and owned casinos in Atlantic City, is set for a rematch with President Joe Biden come November.

Before his exit from the casino industry, Wynn was a loyal supporter of the GOP and served as the finance chair of the Republican National Committee. Wynn was on hand Tuesday night in Nashua to celebrate Trump as he continues to pave his path to secure the party’s presidential nomination for a third consecutive time.

Wynn Singled Out

During Trump’s victory speech Tuesday night, the former president told his supporters the campaign is looking forward to the next primary in Nevada. Haley isn’t campaigning in the Silver State and is instead focusing her efforts on South Carolina, where she was governor.

“I hear Nikki say, “And now it’s off to South Carolina!’ Well, I love South Carolina, but you know, she forgot one thing. Next week it’s Nevada,” Trump said.

We have a man from Nevada here. Steve Wynn,” Trump told the enthusiastic crowd.

According to campaign finance records, Wynn hasn’t yet made any 2024 contributions to Trump. Wynn, a Floridian since 2018, has also been a supporter of Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and gave $100K to his 2022 reelection.

DeSantis withdrew from the presidential election last week after a disappointing performance in Iowa. DeSantis subsequently endorsed Trump despite the two engaging in a bitter feud over the past year.

The 2024 GOP primary is presumably Trump’s. The latest odds and political betting exchanges suggest the billionaire has a chance of upwards of 95% to represent the Republican Party against incumbent Biden.

Haley, however, has vowed to remain in the race.

“This race is far from over. There are dozens of states left to go,” Haley said Tuesday night.

Big Pockets Open

Haley has the financial backing of the Koch network, one of the world’s richest families. But Trump is expected to soon have his own billionaire backing with Dr. Miriam Adelson, the widow of Sheldon Adelson, who founded and ran Las Vegas Sands until his 2021 death.

Adelson, worth $33 billion as of this week, according to Forbes, has said she’s waiting for Republican voters to make their decision before opening her deep pockets. During the 2020 election cycle, Dr. Adelson and her husband gave $180 million to Trump.

Last fall, Adelson purchased a controlling interest in the NBA Dallas Mavericks for $3.5 billion.
