Sir Richard Branson’s name appears in the latest Jeffrey Epstein document dump. The billionaire Virgin Hotels Las Vegas owner was implicated by Sarah Ransome, one of Epstein’s alleged sex slaves.

“When my friend had sexual intercourse with Clinton, Prince Andrew, and Richard Branson, sex tapes were in fact filmed on each separate occasion by Jeffrey,” Ransome claimed in a 2016 email to New York Post journalist Maureen Callahan.

I personally can confirm that I have, with my own two eyes, seen the evidence of these sexual acts, which clearly identifies [them] having sexual intercourse with my friend,” the email continued. “I will be more than willing to swear under oath and testify in court.”

Ransome, who didn’t name her friend, has previously claimed she was raped by Epstein up to three times a day after being lured into his orbit as a 22-year-old aspiring model.

The email was part of the latest batch of court documents unsealed by a U.S. judge in connection with Virginia Giuffre’s civil lawsuit against Ghislane Maxwell, Epstein’s former lover and alleged accomplice. Maxwell is currently serving 20 years in prison after being convicted in December 2021 of helping Epstein recruit and sexually abuse underage girls.

Giuffre and another Epstein victim, Maria Farmer, have claimed to see a room full of TV monitors inside Epstein’s $65M mansion in New York, some of which showed cameras placed in bathrooms.

Credibility Questioned

A spokesperson for Branson called the allegations against him “baseless and unfounded,” referring to a 2019 New Yorker magazine article reporting that Ransome “invented the tapes to draw attention to Epstein’s behavior and make him believe she had ‘evidence that would come out if he harmed me’.”

Ransome’s email was also used by Epstein’s lawyer, Alan Dershowitz, to demonstrate that she “manifestly lacks credibility.” The court was never presented any evidence that any sex tapes exist, and Ransome withdrew her allegations soon after she made them.

I would like to retract everything I have said to you and walk away from this,” she wrote in a follow-up email to Callahan, explaining that “only bad things” and “pain for my family” would result if she went public.

Giuffre’s lawsuit was settled in 2017 and the court either sealed or partially redacted certain documents. That was done because of concerns about the privacy rights of Epstein’s victims and others who may have innocently interacted with him.

In 2019, the Miami Herald successfully sued to make all the Epstein documents public. Since then, they have been released on a rolling basis.

Reaction So Far

All of the people who were still alive when named have denied any knowledge of Epstein’s illegal activities at the time. And not every person named in the documents is accused of wrongdoing. The list included the names of sex abuse victims, Epstein’s employees, and people with only a passing connection to the scandal.

Nevertheless, Prince Andrew — who removed himself from public life because of the backlash over his friendship with Epstein — reportedly paid millions to settle a civil case brought by Giuffre. She is a woman he claimed never to have met, but who asserted that he sexually assaulted her when she was 17.

According to prosecutors, Epstein assaulted multiple girls as young as 14 years old. On Aug. 10, 2019, he was found dead at age 66 in a New York City jail cell while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. His death was ruled a suicide, though skeptics are easily found.
