A weekend Cirque du Soleil show was temporarily suspended at the Mirage in Las Vegas after one of the trampoline performers suffered an injury.

The unnamed male performer hurt his left leg and is now recuperating, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The mishap may have involved his knee and ankle, the report added.

He was assisted off the stage by production crew members, and the Friday evening show was stopped for about a half hour.

The accident took place during “The Beatles LOVE” show while the song “Revolution” was playing. Cirque du Soleil confirmed the incident in a statement.

An artist who is part of the trampoline act ‘Revolution’ was injured. As a precautionary measure and in accordance with our emergency response protocols, we stopped the show to allow the emergency intervention team of the ‘Love’ team to safely bring the artist backstage where they were immediately taken in good care by the medical team.”

It was unclear if the performer required surgery. The performer will be monitored by coaches and physicians to ensure proper healing and determine when he can resume the onstage role, according to the Cirque du Soleil statement.

The performance where the accident happened involves the song Revolution being played while  performers use four trampolines and a replica Volkswagen bus.

Audience Member Ailment

In an unrelated incident during the same 7 p.m. performance, someone in the audience apparently suffered a possible seizure, the Review-Journal reported based on audience accounts.

In an earlier mishap, on June 29, performer Kyle Mitrione was seriously injured in the Cirque du Soleil performance of “O” at the Bellagio. He underwent spinal surgery following the injuries, the Review-Journal reported. Since then, he’s been receiving physical therapy in Denver.

‘Love’ History

In 2006, the “The Beatles LOVE” show was launched. Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono, and Olivia Harrison attended the premiere with their families, as did Beatles producer George Martin.

Last month, Paul McCartney stopped by the Mirage to say hello to the show’s cast hours before the show started. Sasha Harrington, an aerialist in the show, put on a performance for him and took a photo with the music legend.

Last year, when announcing the extension of the Beatles-themed show, Eric Grilly, president of Cirque’s resident show division, said, “The Beatles LOVE is one of the most beloved and successful production shows on the Las Vegas Strip.”

The Beatles-themed show is expected to continue at least through March 20, 2024.

The Mirage won’t be rebranded Hard Rock Las Vegas until late 2027 at the soonest, and it could be 2028, according to Vital Vegas. Last December, Hard Rock got approval from the Nevada Gaming Commission (NGC) for its acquisition of the Mirage from MGM Resorts International.
