Boston Red Sox Names BetMGM Official Sports Wagering Partner
On March 7, BetMGM, a flagship sports wagering and iGaming operator based in New Jersey and a subsidiary of MGM Resorts, reported that it has entered into an alliance with the Boston Red Sox, an American professional baseball team based in Boston.
With this partnership, BetMGM has officially become the sports wagering partner of the Boston Red Sox.
However, this is BetMGM’s first alliance with a Massachusetts-based sports team and the first sports wagering alliance for the Red Sox.
This announcement comes on the heels of Massachusetts’ upcoming debut for mobile sports wagering.
But that’s not all; as it comes just in time with BetMGM and MGM Resorts’ report of joining the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) in promoting Problem Gambling Awareness Month during March.
Goals of the union:
Under the terms of the agreement, BetMGM signage will be displayed at Fenway Park involving the unique Green Monster, the stadium’s left field wall.
BetMGM will feature an in-stadium suite and select VIP fan experiences involving access to premium seating batting practice, alumni performances and ceremonial first pitches. Co-branded content will be integrated across Red Sox’s and BetMGM’s digital and social platforms.
Commenting on the partnership, Matt Prevost, Chief Revenue Officer at BetMGM, said: “The Red Sox are one of the baseball’s most beloved organizations and we’re thrilled to bring BetMGM to their passionate fans. We look forward to working together to elevate the gameday experience in Boston.”
Responsible gaming training stays a key focus for BetMGM as it continues to extend into new markets. BetMGM is thrilled to offer resources to help players play responsibly involving GameSense, an innovative flagship program created and licensed to MGM Resorts by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation.
Furthermore, through GameSense integration into BetMGM’s mobile and desktop platforms, Boston Red Sox fans can access directly responsible gaming tools.
Also, BetMGM and MGM Resorts are partners of the American Gaming Association’s (AGA) Have A Game Plan. ® Bet Responsibly.™ public service campaign to teach new and experienced punters responsible, legal sports betting.
Troup Parkinson, Executive Vice President, Partnerships of the Boston Red Sox, added: “The Boston Red Sox are proud to partner with BetMGM as we prepare to enter a new era of professional sports betting in Massachusetts. Given our strong relationship with MGM Resorts, BetMGM was the clear choice to become the first sports betting partner of the club, and we look forward to them offering sports betting opportunities to our fans in a safe and responsible manner.”
However, this new partnership speaks volumes for the great trust between the Red Sox and MGM Resorts, which involves a multi-year partnership in which MGM Resorts is the Official Resort Casino of the Boston Red Sox.
The company has also been chosen by Fenway Sports Group as the naming rights partner for MGM Music Hall at Fenway, which officially opened in September 2022.
Chris Kelley, President and COO of Northeast Group, MGM Resorts, added: “As host of the annual Red Sox Winter weekend, MGM Springfield has become a destination for New England baseball fans. With sports betting now legal in Massachusetts, we remain committed, through GameSense, to offering an enjoyable and responsible experience for our guests, customers and MGM Rewards members.”
