The Atlantic Lottery, serving the northeastern Canadian provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador has awarded Scientific Games a new five-year contract to carry on as the region’s primary Scratch’N Win games game provider.

The Atlantic Lottery maintains an option to renew the contract for an additional half-decade at the end of the current contract.

The company and Lottery have a long-term relationship dating back to the 1980s. The Atlantic Lottery Corporation returns 100% of profits to the provinces to help with essential services.

Vice-President of Lottery and Living Lab for Atlantic Lottery’s Maureen Wojick said: “Scientific Games has solidified its long-time partnership with Atlantic Lottery, delivering strong and responsible sales growth for our Scratch’N Win products and topping our previous year by 9.8%.

We are focused on using the company’s analytics and insights to create a Scratch’N Win game portfolio that continues to drive performance while entertaining our players with exciting games.”

Scientific Games is a worldwide lottery vendor that supplies logistics and other services to state actors and state-sanctioned operators globally. The company name was once known for hefty growth, mergers, and acquisitions in other areas of iGaming. However, the core lottery business is now a new entity with the same brand name while the casino-games-focused company rebranded as Light & Wonder and operates separately.

Light & Wonder is not part of Scientific Games

The legacy of Scientific Games continues worldwide with Light & Wonder doing its own thing, so to speak. In the Atlantic region, Scientific Games is in charge of the Atlantic Lottery’s iLottery and central gaming system via supply and an operational position. Internet casinos in the region as well as sports betting, digital instant games, instant win products, and the lottery draw are administered by Scientific Games across digital and retail channels.

In short, Scientific Games is the iGaming supplier for the region in concert with the Atlantic Lottery – a Crown corporation founded in 1976 with its headquarters in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Not all provinces carry all products, with each constituent element maintaining control of gambling in its locale. New Brunswick as well as Newfoundland and Labrador play host to the company’s self-service kiosks known as PlayCentral HD terminals as well as subscription services and a player account management system.

Nearly 3,000 retail locations in the Atlantic Lottery network subscribed to Scientific Games’ rollout of advanced point-of-sale technology earlier this year.

Recognizing Advances Game Science

President, of Americas & Global Instant Products for Scientific Games and 37-year lottery industry veteran John Schulz, said: “Working with a primary instant games partner that uses analytics and insights to support continued growth across the entire game portfolio is a strong business approach.

We are honored to continue our good work together to entertain Atlantic Lottery players in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Schulz has worked on over 45 successful lottery start-ups worldwide.

While the lottery provider enjoys profits in the region, the Atlantic Lottery reinvests directly in the community through health care, education, infrastructure, and other “greater good” causes.

Scientific Games is the global instant win game provider with more than 70% of all retail sales worldwide. According to La Fleur’s 2022 World Lottery Almanac, is the primary provider for nine out of the top ten instant game lotteries worldwide.
