Matthew Davis earns Main Event win during MSPT

[ad_1]

The Mid-Stakes Poker Tour headed to Michigan recently to offer poker tournament gaming at the Firekeepers Casino in Battle Creek. During the stop, the Main Event took place, offering players a $1,100 buy-in and over $2.3 million in total prize money once everyone was registered. In the end, 303 players competed in the event, with Matthew Davis taking down the first-place prize.

Final Table Action

On Day 2, it would take more than an hour for the final table to be established, with the remaining nine players seated at the felt. The first to go would be Alec Magdan, the smallest stack at the table. A three-way all-in would be his undoing and send him packing with just over $36,000 in prize money.

The next short-stack player was Ron Puleo, and he would, unfortunately, be the next go at the hands of Justin Pimpedly. After a few more eliminations, the event would eventually whittle down to Rinaldo Teodoro and Davis.

The heads-up round would begin with little movement toward Davis or Teodoro’s way. The stacks would stay the same pretty much the entire time the two went head-to-head. Eventually, Davis would call a hand on the button and Teodoro would raise.

Davis would go all in with pocket sevens and Teodoro would call with A-6. A seven on the flop gave the hand to Davis after the turn card was no help to Teodoro. Davis would earn the poker event first-place win while Teodoro had to settle for second.
