US casino operator Penn National Gaming on Thursday cut the ribbon on Hollywood Casino York in York County, Pennsylvania, to add a new property to its already sprawling portfolio.

The new gambling venue is located at the York Galleria Mall in Springettsbury Township, York County.

The newly opened property is the latest mini casino or Category 4 satellite casino, as these are referred to in Pennsylvania’s gambling law, to open doors in the state as part of a sweeping gambling expansion effort authorized by Gov. Tom Wolf in the fall of 2017.

It was in early 2018 when Penn National was selected as the winning bidder for the right to develop a satellite casino in York County. The company tabled a $50.1 million bid. It then spent over $120 million to develop the gaming facility.

Hollywood Casino York spreads over 80,000 square feet and features a gaming floor with more than 500 slot and video poker machines, 24 table games, and Pennsylvania’s first retail Barstool Sportsbook.

The sports betting facility is equipped with a 20-foot wall of TVs, bar top video poker, sports betting tellers and self-service sports betting and racing kiosks.

Penn National said Thursday that all gaming at its York County casino is outfitted with the company’s newly introduced “cashless, cardless, and contactless capabilities.”

New Casino Also Comes with a Variety of Dining and Entertainment Options

In addition to gaming, Hollywood Casino York also features three dining outlets – Diner&Drinks, Barstool Bar, and The Classic Grill.

Diner&Drinks is a full-service casual restaurant that seats more than 125 patrons in the dining room and the accompanying bar.

Barstool Bar serves light snacks and a full selection of cocktails and draft and craft beer.

And The Classic Grill seats approximately 40 patrons and offers a grab-and-go option for burgers, sandwiches, salads, and snacks. It also brews Starbucks Coffee.

The new gaming and sports betting complex is open seven days a week and 24 hours a day on Fridays and Saturdays. It has created 290 permanent jobs and generated another 230 jobs during construction.

Hollywood Casino York is Penn National’s 43rd property in North America and the company’s third in the Keystone State. Penn National is currently building a fourth casino in the state – Hollywood Casino Morgantown – in Berks County. That other property is on track to open doors later this year.

Commenting on the newest addition to their property portfolio, Penn National Executive Vice President of Operations Todd George said that they are thrilled to be “showcasing Hollywood Casino York’s unique style of premier gaming, dining, and entertainment in a truly modern atmosphere.”
