Gambling Firm Flutter Creates Workforce Engagement Committee

Gambling powerhouse Flutter Entertainment has formed a workforce engagement committee to enhance engagement between the company’s board and its thousands of employees.

The major gaming and sports betting operator, which owns leading brands such as Paddy Power, Betfair, Sky Betting & Gaming, FanDuel, and PokerStars, currently employs more than 14,000 people across five continents.

Flutter pointed out that it has created the committee to enhance its board’s awareness of employee matters within the decision-making process.

Mary Turner, who serves as an independent non-executive director at Flutter, has chaired the newly established committee. Other members include the gambling operator’s chairman, Gary McGann, and directors Nancy Cruickshank, Nancy Dubuc, and Richard Flint.

The Workforce Engagement Committee will be tasked with ensuring the group deploys appropriate workforce engagement policies, processes, and communication channels throughout each of its many divisions, encouraging participation in and assessing feedback provided from various workforce engagement initiatives, and keeping fully informed on issues with material impact on the group’s workforce that are reported by employees and other stakeholders and communicating these issues to the board, among other things.

The newly formed body will represent employees of 75 different nationalities speaking 62 different languages. It is replacing the Employee Voice Forum, which the company has created to follow the recommendations of the 2018 UK Corporate Governance Code.

Recognizing the Role of Workforce

Commenting on the creation of the new committee, Flutter Chairman McGann said that they are a diverse international group, and as such, they “recognize the important role our workforce plays in our success.”

Mr. McGann went on that the new Workforce Engagement Committee will outline a “clear mechanism for the board to listen to the views of our workforce and take account of these views in the board’s decision-making process.”

In separate news from few weeks ago, Flutter’s US-focused subsidiary FanDuel announced that it would locate its new technology hub at Ponce City Market in Atlanta, Georgia. The company revealed plans to invest at least $15 million into opening the new office.

As part of its newest expansion initiative, the company would hire more than 900 people over the next five years. The new technology hub will house software engineering, user experience and user interface, and project development teams.

Of the new office, FanDuel CPO Sarah Butterfass has said that Ponce City Market is the perfect location for their new tech campus as it reflects their commitment to “becoming a central part of the Atlanta corporate footprint.”

She has further noted that the historic building would provide their local employees with a “blend of old-world charm, cutting edge sophistication, and modern amenities that will deliver an unmatched working environment.” In addition, the location of the new hub would allow them to “build deep ties to Atlanta’s diverse pipeline of talent coming from its many top-flight universities.”
