Wynn Sports Extends Scientific Games Betting Deal to Colorado, Indiana

After quietly rolling out a sports betting and casino app in New Jersey with Scientific Games, casino operator Wynn Resorts has extended its partnership with the gambling technology giant to now include the states of Colorado and Indiana.

Wynn launched its Wynn Sports mobile betting app in the Garden State on July 27 after getting the green light from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.

Wynn Sports is powered by Scientific Games’ sports betting and iGaming platforms. The provider’s OpenSports product offers a managed athletic wagering solution, while its OpenGaming solution is a market-leading content aggregator that features more than 2,000 online casino games, including hit titles 88 Fortunes, Zeus, and Raging Rhino, among others.

Under the terms of the expanded deal between Wynn and Scientific Games, the supplier will provide the Wynn Sports app with access to the OpenSports enterprise solution in Colorado and Indiana as well as to the OpenPlatform player account management system.

OpenPlatform offers all the necessary player account management tools, including promotions, wallet, responsible gaming services, and full payment and authentication mechanisms.

It is yet to be announced when exactly Wynn Sports will extend its US regulated sports betting footprint with launches in Colorado and Indiana.

Quiet New Jersey Launch

As mentioned above, Wynn Sports went live in New Jersey in late July. Since Wynn Resorts does not operate a property in Atlantic City, it had to form an alliance with a locally licensed casino operator in order to be able to offer digital betting and gaming services.

The company teamed up with Caesars Interactive, the iGaming Division of Caesars Entertainment Inc, and now offers its wagering product through its rival operator’s New Jersey license. Caesars operates three properties in Atlantic City, with those being Caesars Atlantic City, Harrah’s Atlantic City, and Tropicana Atlantic City.

The lack of fanfare over the launch of Wynn Sports in New Jersey surprised many, particularly given the fact that the local market is already quite crowded and competition is getting more and more fierce. However, even though it was a quiet launch, it was a well-timed one, right before the return of major sports across the US and the rest of the world, following a months-long hiatus necessitated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Wynn indicated its plans to enter Colorado and Indiana last fall when it teamed up with Las Vegas casino operator Full House Resorts to jointly explore the two markets. It should be noted that sports betting was not even legal in Colorado at the time.

The Centennial State legalized the practice after state voters passed Proposition DD in the November 2019, allowing for legal wagering. Colorado’s first legal betting products went live in May.
