On the heels of its big win at the International Gaming Awards (IAG) 2020, and Cherry AB subsidiary, Yggdrasil Gaming, has revealed that is has been granted membership to the Swedish Gambling Association (SPER).
Membership to the Swedish trade group further demonstrates the online gaming solutions provider’s commitment to a responsible gambling market in the Scandinavian nation.
“Social responsibility is an important part of our work at Yggdrasil“
Yggdrasil will help promote a “healthy, safe and sustainable gambling environment” in the European country where a new Swedish Gambling Act entered into force on 1 January 2019, completely overhauling the country’s legislative framework regarding gaming and betting.
Established in 2002 by gambling operators in Sweden that possess permits issued by the Swedish Gambling Authority, Lotteriinspektionen, including Svenska Spel, Folkspel, ATG and others, SPER was founded to create industry agreements for the protection of consumers. The group’s members have set ethical guidelines, which are the “backbone” of the trade group’s work and pledge to follow them.
Currently, SPER has 20 members, which in addition to licensed operators includes active licensed suppliers, who are also provided a platform to discuss challenges and industry best practices and to regularly address issues and gain insight from each other.
“As an industry leader, we always strive to act in a responsible manner, and industry collaboration is needed to achieve the highest standards to ensure players are protected.
“Social responsibility is an important part of our work at Yggdrasil and by joining SPER we are committing to ensuring that the Swedish gambling market is both safe and sustainable.”
Also commenting on the new membership was Jenny Nilzon, Chief Executive Officer for SPER, who added…
“We are thrilled to welcome Yggdrasil as a supplier member and to further grow our network as it is more important than ever for all industry stakeholders to cooperate and ensure consumer protection is in focus.”
Earlier in the month, the Swedish provider launched the new fantasy-based title, Ice and Fire, the first game from Asian-focused content developer DreamTech Gaming to be released on its invitation-only, semi-open platform YGS Masters.
As mentioned, for the fourth consecutive year, Yggdrasil won the Innovator of the Year award at the IGAs held at London ’s Savoy Hotel on February 3, 2020. The prestigious award recognizes the year’s best-in-class supplier that has “broken boundaries to disrupt the industry with ground-breaking innovation.”
