Playtech Teams Up With Casinò Lugano for Swiss iGaming Expansion
Online gambling technology giant Playtech has ventured further into the Swiss iGaming market with a recent deal with Casinò Lugano, the oldest casino in the Italian-Swiss region.
Under the terms of the partnership, Playtech will launch its online casino content and related software with the land-based casino’s recently rolled-out iGaming operation, Swiss4Win.ch.
The online gaming brand will become the first in the combined Italian-Swiss region to bolster its offering with Playtech’s information management solution (IMS), Casino, and Live Casino products. In addition, Casinò Lugano has become the latest Swiss land-based casino to team up with Playtech as the provider looks to continue to grow its presence in the local market.
Under Switzerland’s Money Gaming Act, which came into force in 2019, the nation’s land-based gambling venues were allowed to launch Internet gaming operations and partner with locally certified content providers to enhance their offering and make it more attractive to local players.
Playtech entered that regulated market in the fall of 2019, shortly after the first Swiss online casinos went live. Leading local gambling operator Swiss Casino Group was the provider’s first partner there.
Through its deal with Playtech, the company, which operates one of the nation’s largest brick-and-mortar casinos, Casino Zurich, gained access to the content maker and provider’s leading Casino and Live Casino suites of gaming titles.
An Exciting Growth Area
Of their further expansion in Switzerland, Playtech Chief Operating Officer Shimon Akad said that the continued growth of the local online casino market in the last few years has made it “an exciting growth area for our Casino and Live Casino Offering.”
Mr. Akad went on to say that Live Casino has become a key product vertical for his company and that they look forward to working with Casinò Lugan and its Internet gaming brand to “deliver our data driven, omni-channel IMS platform” that can certainly help drive the growth in the emerging local iGaming space.
Gianmaria Frapolli, CEO and Board Member at Casinò Lugano’s parent organization, said that they are excited to form this new alliance with Playtech and bring the success of their land-based operation into the digital gaming market.
She went on to say that the provider’s leading software and expertise “will help deliver a sustainable and innovative online casino experience” to their players as they venture into Internet gambling for the first time.
Earlier this week, Playtech announced that it has further expanded into another important market. The company said it has received regulatory green light to launch its first Live Casino studio in the US. The facility will be located in Michigan and will broadcast the provider’s live dealer games as well as its gameshow-style content.
