Mohegan Unveils Logo for Las Vegas Casino
US tribal casino and hospitality operator Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment this week unveiled the logo for its Las Vegas gambling venue – Mohegan Sun Casino at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.
Mohegan will be running what would be the first tribal casino in Las Vegas. The facility will spread over 60,000 square feet within Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, part of the luxury Curio Collection by Hilton.
Following months of speculations over who would operate the casino at the new Virgin Hotels property, Mohegan and the hospitality brand of British businessman Richard Branson announced their partnership in September 2019, under the terms of which the tribal operator would run the casino at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.
The future Virgin Hotels property is currently undergoing extensive renovation and transformation. When it opens doors later this year, it will replace Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas.
Virgin Hotels purchased the now former Hard Rock resort in the spring of 2018. The hospitality company initially planned to spend $150 million into renovating and transforming the property, but then upped its investment to more than $200 million.
Under original plans, Virgin Hotels Las Vegas was supposed to be only partially closed during the first stage of renovation work. However, property owners decided to close the entire resort for an eight-month transformation.
Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is set to welcome its first guests this coming fall.
Mohegan Announces GM for New Casino
As part of its expansion into Las Vegas, Mohegan has already appointed a General Manager for its new Mohegan Sun Casino. Joe Hasson has been named to the role.
Mr. Hasson has been tasked with leading Mohegan’s entry into the Las Vegas casino space. He will oversee the strategic direction of the gaming facility’s business operation and financial performance in coordination with the senior management team.
Mohegan has also recently appointed Tyler Conover as Director of Marketing of Mohegan Sun Casino. He will play an instrumental role in amplifying the new gambling venue’s presence and furthering key initiatives to attract patrons.
Commenting on their Las Vegas expansion and the new appointments, Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment CEO Mario Kontomerkos said that they are eager to bring their gaming experience to their “network of loyal thrill-seekers in the entertainment capital of the world.”
Mr. Kontomerkos went on to say that with industry veterans like Mr. Hasson and Mr. Conover at the helm of Mohegan Sun Casino Las Vegas, they are confident that their “first venture into Las Vegas will be a fruitful one, and we are looking forward to welcoming guests later this year.”
Mohegan’s Las Vegas casino will be the company’s second to operate under the Mohegan Sun brand. The casino and hospitality operator runs a Mohegan Sun property in Connecticut.
